An introduction to Gmen@NanChuu Ramen Shop

This restaurant has become well-known in the community for serving bowls of ramen that stay true to Japanese culinary traditions. For first-time visitors, it is a place that combines comfort food with a cultural dining experience.

Menu highlights that define the dining experience

One of the most popular choices is the Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen with Ajitama, a bowl that delivers the richness of pork bone broth paired with soy sauce seasoning and a perfectly marinated egg. Guests also enjoy classics such as Shoyu Ramen and Shio Ramen, which provide a lighter yet flavorful alternative.

Beyond ramen, the menu expands to Japanese small plates and specialties. Options like Takoyaki (6pcs), Fried Chicken, Chicken Karaage 日式炸鷄件, and Deep Fried Octopus add variety and make sharing meals enjoyable. The restaurant also serves dishes like Ankimo, Chashu Don, Takowasabi, and Saba Shioyaki, each reflecting authentic Japanese flavors rarely found elsewhere in Richmond. What People's Say About Restaurant

Easy parking. Very nice ramen restaurant. Good service. Ramen comes with a huge bowl, the soup base is rich, ramen noodles are great. And I ordered extra corn, it comes with a slotted spoon which I’ve never seen any ramen restaurants did before, awesome! Btw the lunch set is recommended!

Gmen @ NanChuu Ramen 8391 Alexandra Rd #1160, Richmond, BC V6X 3W5 Gmega Ramen (RCMP Special) This signature bowl is a true standout—bold, complex, and deeply satisfying. The broth boasts a rich umami base with a well-balanced spiciness that lingers pleasantly without overwhelming the palate. The Pork is tender and flavorful, complementing the hearty noodles perfectly. Every element of this dish reflects thoughtful preparation and culinary finesse. Rating: 10/10 TanTan Ramen A beautifully executed rendition of a classic. The sesame-based broth is creamy and aromatic, with just the right amount of heat. The noodles are perfectly springy, and the toppings are generous and well-integrated. A must-try for those who enjoy depth and warmth in their ramen. Rating: 10/10 Ebi Mayo A reliable and familiar appetizer. The shrimp are lightly battered and fried to a golden crisp, with a creamy mayo drizzle that offers a touch of sweetness. While enjoyable, it doesn’t venture far from what’s commonly found in other Japanese izakayas. Rating: 7/10 Takowasabi This dish offers a crisp texture and a mild wasabi kick, though the overall flavor profile is relatively subdued. It’s a decent accompaniment for those seeking something light, but it lacks the memorability or depth of the other offerings. Rating: 7/10 Chashu Don A satisfying and well-composed rice bowl. The chashu is tender and richly marinated, delivering excellent depth of flavor. Paired with warm rice and subtle seasoning, it’s a hearty and comforting dish that holds its own outside the ramen spotlight. Rating: 9/10 Service The service is warm and attentive. Staff are genuinely hospitable and demonstrate an efficient understanding of the menu and flow of a busy ramen house. Despite the high volume of patrons, they remain composed and accommodating. Rating: 9/10 Ambiance Gmen @ NanChuu captures the charm of a traditional Japanese ramen-ya. The space is compact and often bustling, but that only adds to its authenticity. It evokes the feeling of ducking into a cozy Tokyo alleyway for a quick, flavorful bowl. Rating: 8/10 Price Portions are generous—particularly the supersized ramen bowls—and the pricing is more than fair given the quality and execution. It’s a place where value meets craftsmanship. Final Verdict Gmen @ NanChuu Ramen remains one of Richmond’s premier destinations for authentic Japanese ramen. Each bowl is crafted with precision and passion, delivering both bold flavors and comforting warmth. While the appetizers are a bit more conventional, the ramen itself is nothing short of exceptional. Expect a crowd during peak hours, but rest assured—it’s worth the wait. Highly recommended for anyone in pursuit of a truly authentic ramen experience.

They’re open on Monday’s now! (Sept. 29th, 2025)Their lunch specials are such a good deal. It’s definitely in my top 3 ramen places in the lower mainland. Sorry correction. Just this Monday because tomorrow is Truth and Reconciliation day.

If you like quick turn overs, with a very tight seating capacity, and a decent lunch, this is the place. My friend had recommended this place. He said everything is fairly good here. So the next day I decided to come for lunch and hey, he's right. Service is quick to seat you down and take your order. Half way into my meal I was given the bill. But that's fine I was needing to get back to errands. And most people who were dining looked like office people. I had my ramen and karage and back into the car I go. The menu looked real good, I'll definitely come by again next time for dinner. Update: Dinner is delicious. Had the tonkatsu miso ramen, apparently most popular choice. It's a safe bet. Then got the akashiyaki, fried octopus balls in Bonito broth. Definitely had good flavors there. Last the okonomiyaki, Japanese cabbage pancake. Savory strong flavors, very comforting.

Authentic Japanese ramen. The portion is very good for the price. Broth is thick and very yummy. Pork is tender. Definitely one of the best ramen.

I think this is the second G-Men ramen that opened in Richmond, the original was at Continental Centre. Went for the lunch special here which was very reasonable considering rising food costs these days. Shio ramen is something I never order, but was full of incredibly subtle but tasty flavour, a definite must try. We’ve been here before, not sure where my previous review went, but definitely coming back for the Shio Ramen! Edit: another visit: Tantan men is nice and rich, sugoi oishi! A bit different than the Steveston location, but definitely both are awesome. Ate myself into a food coma, too sleepy to write anymore.
